The Adelphi Hotel’s one of the most iconic buildings in Liverpool. The hotel opened in 1862 and survived World War II unscathed. Over the years, it’s hosted famous guests like Winston Churchill, Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan and Judy Garland. Now, it’s been given Grade II listed status.

You’ll still see Edwardian features throughout, including grand sweeping staircases. But it’s been given modern touch-ups, too. There are two restaurants – one dealing in buffet breakfasts, lunch and dinner, and another French place with its own cocktail bar. And not one, but three bars keep punters watered. The American Bar’s a top spot for a cheeky nightcap before bed, while Wave Bar is the hotel’s entertainment hub, with live musicians, quiz nights, karaoke and sport screenings.

All this is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Liverpool Lime Street Train Station. It’s a 10-minute stroll over to the iconic Cavern Club for live music and a boogie. Or 20 minutes’ walk will get you to the Royal Albert Dock for the Beatles museum and the Tate.
